Struggling to light up those nooks and crannies in your home that are lacking natural light? We get it; not everyone is blessed with an abundance of natural light, and we all can’t afford skylights and roof windows. This is why we've put together some tips and tricks on how to elevate the darker areas in your home. Our lighting specialists have shared how to create the illusion of natural light, so say goodbye to those dark and unused spaces!
Embrace Artificial Light
This is essential and seems like the most obvious. For your rooms lacking any natural illumination, adding layers of artificial light will help you achieve a beautifully lit ambience. 'Three-point lighting' is a traditional method and means exactly as it sounds, having three different light sources.
One strong illumination source can cause glare, make your pupils dilate, and will not help eliminate dark corners. Having three sources of light that can be used (together or separately) will balance out your space. Layered lighting is an excellent way to avoid a direct glare and keep your space dynamic. This can be achieved through multiple tables & floor lamps, wall lights, spotlights, task lights, pendant lights, LED strip lights, and much more! Here's a variety of our favourites:

Load up on Mirrors
Mirrors will help reflect and bounce light around a room. The bigger the mirror is, the more natural light it will harness. Depending on placement, it can completely open up a small space, leaving it feeling much larger than it is. By placing a mirror opposite a window, inbound sunlight will reflect back into the room and have a magnifying effect! You don't need to stick with a traditional wall mirror; introduce mirrored surface areas such as tables, cabinet doors, or even photo frames! Trust us, this is a game-changer.
